United Nations Says New Swarm of Locusts Could Hit Somalia Soon

United Nations has discovered that a new swarm of locusts is forming in Africa. According to the global body, Africa could soon witness a massive invasion, which would worsen the already precarious food situation.

The United Nations mentions Somalia as one of the countries that could experience the worst of the invasion. With the oncoming fresh infestation, livelihoods are likely to be more at risk as locusts devastate the land.

It said that the formation of the new swarms is evident in Somalia, Ethiopia, and Kenya. Other countries, especially those around the Horn of Africa region, are equally at risk. UN says urgent measures are necessary to enhance food security.
