The United States has commended President Ahmed Madobe for signing a truce with three of his fiercest rivals.
While commending him, the US also warned that the “sluggish implementation” of the deal could hamper all the gains made so far.
President Madobe of Jubaland recently signed a pact with his competitors in a move that the US and other international partners have labeled “timely.”
It is worth noting that Jubaland is not the only Federal Member State (FMS) to experience political squabbles. Other states affected include Galmudug, Southwest, and HirShabelle.
Nevertheless, Jubaland is one of the first to see its squabbling political leaders agree to put aside their differences for the sake of developing the region.
Issues that cause divisions within these states range from contentious electoral processes to interference by the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
While pressing the Jubaland deal, the US tweeted that its welcomes the pact, which should be the basis for dialogue between the stakeholders for building an all-inclusive administration.
The US mentioned the stakeholders as President Madobe and other political leaders.
