United States Promises Stern Action against Somali Leaders Who Threaten Peace

The United States government has promised stern action against leaders in Somalia who threaten peace in the country.

A statement from the US Bureau of African Affairs dated December 28 said that Washington DC would not hesitate to “act against any political spoiler.”

The message was indirectly aimed at President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.

President Farmaajo had attempted to sack Prime Minister Roble on Sunday night.

The attempted dismissal almost brought the East African nation to its knees as political temperatures reached dangerous levels.

Specifically, the statement by the Bureau of African Affairs called the attempted suspension of Roble “an alarming” event.

The US threw its weight behind the Prime Minister’s efforts to lead the country into rapid and credible elections.
