The government of the United States has announced plans to repatriate its citizens voluntarily from Somalia in the wake of the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.
A statement issued by the US Embassy in Mogadishu said only those willing to leave the Horn of Africa nation would be transported out of Somalia.
Consequently, the US Embassy has asked them all to book a flight out of the country with the Ethiopian Airlines.
Furthermore, the Embassy has warned those who remain behind now that there is no guarantee a future flight out of the nation would be available.
The announcement comes hot on the heels of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the country. Currently, Somalia has 997 confirmed cases of the virulent disease.
