A group of unknown gunmen shot and killed a traditional elder in Beledweyne.
Reports from the region indicate that the gunmen accosted and assassinated the elder who was identified as Ali Moalim.
The assassination, which was the second in the city in two weeks, took place on the night of Friday, May 27.
Police are unsure why the gunmen targeted Moalim in Hiran’s regional capital.
However, Moalim was one of the elders who served as electoral delegates in the recent House of the People (Lower House) elections in the region.
He cast his vote for the winning candidate.
