The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) has announced plans to help rehabilitate six regional hospitals in Somalia.
UNOPS announced that it would work closely with the Ministry of Health as well as the World Bank to rehabilitate the facilities.
It added that the rehabilitation of the medical facilities would go a long way in improving healthcare system in the East African nation.
Close to $12.5 million is required to rehabilitate the facilities.
Under the project, the hospitals would benefit from major renovations, installation of critical medical equipment, and civil works.
Bay Regional Hospital and Beledweyne District Referral Hospital are two of the institutions earmarked for rehabilitation.
Others include Bosaso General Hospital, Galmudug Regional Referral Hospital and Forlanini Hospital.
The sixth facility is Garbaharey District Referral Hospital.
