The United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) calls for a gender-balanced police force in Somalia.
According to UNSOM, Somalia would never experience a balanced public safety service without an equally gender-balanced Somali Police Force (SPF).
UNSOM made this call on Sunday during the conclusion of training for 15 Puntland police officers in Garowe.
Today’s training focused on gender equality.
Specifically, the trainers urged the trainees to embrace gender equality in the recruitment, deployment, training, and promotion of women police officers.
