United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) has condemned the attack on military bases in Lower Shabelle on April 3.
On Saturday, militants attacked two military bases located in nearby towns in Lower Shabelle.
Somali National Army (SNA) personnel foiled the attack and killed close to 100 militants before arresting 15 others.
Fourteen soldiers lost their lives in the deadly incident.
On Sunday, James Swan, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Somalia, issued a statement condemning the incident.
In his statement, Swan said that the UN “strongly condemns the attacks against government troops in Barire and Awdhegle.”
He also extended condolences to the friends and family of the departed souls.
Al-Shabaab has already claimed responsibility for the shocking incident.
