UNSOM Congratulates Health Workers in Somalia for Role in Curbing Spread of COVID-19

United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) has congratulated health workers in the country for the role they have played in curbing the spread of COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic hit Somalia six months ago.

Ever since, the country’s Ministry of Health and health workers launched a vigorous campaign to halt the spread of the virulent disease.

Their efforts have not been in vain.

On Tuesday September 15, UNSOM released a press statement lauding the “tireless work” the health workers in Somalia have put in over the last six months.

Further, UNSOM praised them for their “heroic work.” According to the organization, the health workers have demonstrated “commitment and dedication” to the country.

In the statement signed by Special UN Representative James Swan, the organization expressed gratitude for the workers who have worked “under extremely challenging situations.”

Somalia has witnessed a significant drop in the number of COVID-19 daily infections.
