UNSOM Congratulates Roble on Appointment as Prime Minister

The UN Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) has extended its congratulations to Mohamed Hussein Roble on his appointment as the country’s new Prime Minister.

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo appointed Roble the new Prime Minister on Thursday last week pending the approval of the Lower House.

On Wednesday September 23, the House of Representatives voted unanimously to confirm Roble’s appointment.

On September 24, UNSOM issued a statement congratulating Roble and “wishing him success as he takes over a key leadership role in the country.”

The organization reminded Roble that his appointment falls at a critical moment in Somalia’s history, especially now that the country is preparing for a political transition soon.

UNSOM pledged its full support to the new Prime Minister. It also vowed to offer him all the solidarity and cooperation needed to perform his duties effectively.
