United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) expressed sadness at the death of Jerry Rawlings, former President of Ghana.
Rawlings passed away on November 12, 2020.
Authorities in Ghana confirmed that he succumbed to the deadly COVID-19 disease, which has killed 320 people in the country.
Over 50,000 positive COVID-19 cases have already been confirmed in the West African nation since it was first reported on March 12, 2020.
Rawlings served as the AU High Representative to Somalia from 2010 to 2012.
He is highly regarded as one of Africa’s most revered leaders and a true Pan-Africanist.
UNSOM extended its condolences to Rawlings’ family, friends, and compatriots as they mourn the death of one of Africa’s prominent sons.
