United Nations in Somalia (UNSOM) has announced plans to take a Mogadishu-based university to court.
UNSOM accuses the college, which is known as United Nations Academy of Somalia (UNAS), of using its name and logo illegally.
UN in Somalia says it has received tons of enquiries from members of the public who wish to know if UN owns and runs the facility.
However, UNSOM has continuously reminded Somalis and everyone in the country that it has no affiliation whatsoever with the college.
UNSOM clarified that any individual or organization interested in using its name or logo must submit an application for the same. Secondly, it must meet a strict set of criteria too.
Accordingly, UNSOM issued a statement indicating that UNAS had not followed the right procedure and continues to defy the global organization’s warnings.
