United Nations in Somalia (UNSOM) conducted a training session on freedom of expression for 19 journalists in Kismayo.
The training started on Monday, October 26 and is to last four days.
UNSOM said that the training was to prepare the journalists for the upcoming elections in Somalia, which are scheduled to start in November 2020.
In February 2021, the country would be holding presidential elections.
Personnel from UNSOM took charge of the training on the first day. They will be facilitating it for the remaining days too.
Some of the topics to be covered during the training include international principles and the standards of human rights in the region among others.
