Lt. Gen. Joseph Musanyufu, the Joint Chief of Staff of Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) traveled to Somalia to motivate his troops.
Ugandan troops have been in Somalia deployed as part of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and United Nations Guard Unit (UNGU).
Brig. Gen. Richard Otto, the Sector One Commander of AMISOM, received Lt. Gen. Musanyufu at the Aden Ade International Airport in Mogadishu.
While in Mogadishu, Lt. Gen. Musanyufu met with several members of AMISOM leadership. He also interacted with Ugandan troops during his first working day.
Lt. Gen. Musanyufu said, “I’m in Somalia to see the mission area for myself. I’m also here for an on-spot assessment of the many challenges that our troops face while discharging their duties.”
