Somalia is in shock over a female participant who represented the country in the ongoing International University Sports Federation (FISU) World University Games in China.
A video emerged of a female “athlete” taking part in the women’s 100m race.
She finished last in the race way behind other athletes.
The uproar, which rocked the country on Wednesday, caused the suspension of Khadijo Adan Dahir from her position as the Chairperson of the Somali Athletics Association.
The Ministry of Sports sent Dahir packing until the conclusion of investigations into the matter.
Somalis from different walks of life were outraged at the quality of the runner who represented their country. They complained that she lacked the physique needed to compete at such a level.
