The United States Ambassador to Somalia held discussions on the independence of the media with the federal Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism.
Ambassador Larry Andre met with Daud Aweis in Mogadishu on Sunday, September 11.
In their meeting, Ambassador Andre and Aweis discussed the rights and responsibilities of the Somali government and independent media.
Without independent media, the public would not get the right information.
Further, Ambassador Andre reminded Aweis of the importance of independent media providing the platform for sharing different views on challenges facing Somalia.
