Larry Andre, the United States Ambassador to Somalia, has commended Dr. Abdirahman Beileh for the leadership he has provided towards economic reforms in the country.
Ambassador Andre applauded Dr. Beileh, Somalia’s Minister of Finance, on March 9.
His commendation follows the recent approval of Dr. Beileh’s leadership at the helm of the finance ministry by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Laura Jaramillo had led an IMF team in reviewing Somalia’s economic program virtually.
The review took place from February 22 to March 7.
Jaramillo’s team commended Somalia for preserving macroeconomic stability despite the ongoing challenges it faces.
While adding his voice to this, Ambassador Andre said that the East African nation has to tackle any issue threatening Somalia’s continued progress.
Specifically, he spoke of the delayed parliamentary elections.
Ambassador Andre encouraged Somalia’s leaders to work hard to ensure that the country holds transparent, credible, and inclusive elections.
