The United States Ambassador to the United Nations has commended President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s efforts in leading national reconciliation in the country.
Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield said this when she held a meeting with the Somali President on Friday.
President Mohamud has been in the US for a series of meetings with US and UN officials.
He addressed a special gathering of the UN Security Council (UNSC) on Somalia.
Amb. Thomas-Greenfield commended the dedication that President Mohamud has demonstrated in leading national reconciliation efforts in the country.
She also hailed the progress of the counterterrorism operations in the country.
The Ambassador reassured President Mohamud of the US support for Somalia’s security transition goals by December 2024.
