Today, Tibor P. Nagy, the United States Assistant Secretary of State, visited Somalia.
He had a productive meeting with Prime Minister Hassan Khayre. The meeting offered them a chance to talk about several issues of mutual importance.
Some of these pertinent issues were the need for reforming the security sector. Their discussions also centered on economic development.
During the visit, the Assistant Secretary reiterated his country’s commitment in supporting the efforts the government has employed to advance peace in the region.
Additionally, the meeting also allowed the leaders to talk about the need for combating Al-Shabaab to foster development and prosperity.
Assistant Secretary Nagy had other meetings too. These included a meeting with representatives of the civil society in the country.
He also set aside time for meeting with various political figures. Alumni of the public diplomacy exchange program from the Department of State also met with the Assistant Secretary.
