A human rights group from the United States has asked the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) to withdraw a case against a journalist.
Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, an advocacy center, issued the call to Somalia on Wednesday.
Abdalle Ahmed Mumin’s case is scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 19.
According to Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, the case by the Somali government is designed to silence Mumin.
It added that the case could also curtail press freedom in Somalia.
Over the years, Somalia has ranked poorly as one of the most dangerous places for journalists in the world.
Mumin was arrested late last year.
The Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights has urged Somalia to withdraw Mumin’s case immediately.
