US Humanitarian Assistance to Somalia Nearing $866 Million in 2022

The United States has provided around $866 million in humanitarian assistance to Somalia in 2022.

The US Embassy in Mogadishu provided the latest details on September 24.

As per the Embassy, the people and government of the US continue to stand with the people and government of Somalia during these extremely difficult times.

Thus far, Somalia has received hundreds of millions of dollars from the US in 2022.

Somalia needs the funds in the face of the ongoing drought in the East African nation, which threatens millions of people and their livelihoods.

The Embassy commended the US for being the single largest donor of humanitarian assistance to Somalia.

In its report, the Embassy says that the contributions from the US represent 50 percent of all the humanitarian funding that Somalia has received this year alone.
