The United States military has acknowledged that one of its drone attacks against Al-Shabaab in Somalia killed a civilian while injuring three others.
In a report released on Tuesday, the military said that its airstrike carried out on February 2 caused the death of one person “inadvertently.”
The admission was made by Gen. Stephen Townsend of the United States African Command (AFRICOM).
Originally, the military admitted to killing only one member of the Al-Qaeda linked group in the Jilib neighborhood.
However, other sources had continuously castigated AFRICOM by indicating that its airstrike might have killed civilians too.
Nevertheless, the identities of the civilians killed or injured in the drone attack have not been released yet.
