The United States military has released a statement confirming the complete withdrawal of its troops from Somalia.
A statement from the US Africa Command (AFRICOM) indicates that its troops are no longer in the East African nation.
AFRICOM withdrew its troops from Somalia on January 15.
The withdrawal was initially announced by outgoing President Donald Trump when he was campaigning for presidential elections.
Colonel Christopher Karns confirmed that US troops are no longer in Somalia.
He said that the troops were completely pulled out of Somalia two days before President Trump hands over power to the incoming President Joe Biden.
