US Reconstructs Schools for over 2,000 Somali Students in Southwest State

The United States has reconstructed classes for over 2,000 students in Somalia’s regional state of Southwest in the past month.

The US Embassy in Mogadishu revealed this while celebrating Somali Teachers Day on Monday, November 21.

According to the Embassy, the reconstruction was possible through the leadership of the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

The Embassy revealed that USAID ensured that more than 2,400 students had access to accelerated basic education after reconstructing the schools.

On its part, USAID added that it celebrates CARE Somalia’s AGES Project, which supports 991 teachers.

The teachers are then able to provide quality education to more than 60,900 adolescent girls in places such as Jubbaland, Southwest, Banadir, and HirShabelle.
