US Soldier Injured in an Al-Shabaab Attack in Jana Abdalle

One United States soldier was injured when Al-Shabaab fighters carried out a raid at Jana Abdalle on Monday.

Col. Chris Karns, the spokesperson of the US Africa Command (AFRICOM), confirmed this news during an interview with VOA Somalia on September 7.

In the interview, Col. Karns stated that the soldier, whose identity he did not reveal, suffered a few non-threatening injuries.

However, Col. Karns told VOA Somalia that AFRICOM forces killed at least one member of the Al-Qaeda linked group in yesterday’s incident.

He confirmed that the soldier is receiving medical attention in hospital. Doctors have said that the soldier is in stable condition.

The attack is the latest by the extremists against civilians, government officers, and foreign military officers in the country this year.
