USAID and WFP to Support 117,000 Somalis with Food and Cash

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced that it will be collaborating with the World Food Program (WFP) to feed over 117,000 Somalis.

Recently, the United Nations announced that Somalia is on the precipice of unimaginable humanitarian disaster unless the international community acts fast.

On September 1, USAID and WFP announced that they would work together to provide hundreds of thousands of Somalis with food and food vouchers.

Additionally, they also announced various measures aimed at reducing food consumption gaps that exist at the household level.

Food security has worsened in various parts of the East African nation.

USAID and WFP hope that their partnership would improve food security.

Apart from the donation of food supplies, households facing the most risk are also in line for cash transfers as well as in-kind assistance.
