The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has called for urgent humanitarian intervention for two districts in Somalia’s Bay Region.
USAID issued the call for help on Saturday, September 24.
The organization mentioned that residents of the two districts are likely to suffer famine from October to December this year.
Consequently, urgent intervention is necessary to prevent loss of life and further suffering.
This week, USAID announced a further release of $151 million towards the most vulnerable households in Somalia in the wake of the ongoing devastating drought.
Samantha Power, Director of USAID, announced the donation on September 21.
As per the USAID report, the two districts in question are Baidoa and Burhakaba.
