The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has established the first ever model court in Somalia.
On March 19, USAID announced that the Model Court was now up and running in the East African nation.
The court operates from Mogadishu’s Wadajir District.
According to the USAID announcement, the Model Court will perform multiple tasks.
First, it targets the local community. It would also ensure that members of the local community have access to court and the judicial process.
The Model Court is also designed to increase the community’s access to police services and legal aid.
USAID announced that the new court would provide locals with increased access to psychosocial support as well as mediation services too.
