The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has registered over 200 Somali adolescent girls for financial literacy training.
USAID announced that the girls, who number 220, would undergo the training for the next three months.
They were registered on Thursday.
The girls would then get opportunities to go for apprenticeships within 47 different businesses in their respective communities.
The training and subsequent apprenticeship are only possible courtesy of the USAID Adolescent Girls’ Education (AGES) program.
Thus far, USAID supports 100 other girls who underwent similar training.
They then established their own businesses. USAID then supports the girls with mentorship in areas such as customer service, record keeping, and restocking.
