USAID Releases Additional $470 Million to Somalia’s Humanitarian Efforts

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced an additional donation of $470 million to support humanitarian assistance efforts in Somalia.

Ambassador Samantha Power, the USAID Administrator, announced this during her official visit to Somalia.

She met with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia on Sunday, July 24.

The USAID Administrator announced that the funds should ensure that millions of people around the country receive urgent food supplies amidst a looming famine.

She urged authorities to use the funds to provide life-saving nutrition to acutely malnourished children in Somalia too.
