USAID to Help Mobilize International Community toward Drought Response in Somalia

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has vowed to help Somalia’s drought response measures.

USAID made this announcement on January 25 when Samantha Power met with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia.

Power is the USAID Administrator.

She spoke about the sixth consecutive failed rainy season with the Somali President.

Specifically, they also discussed the resulting hunger and the likelihood of famine, which could have a devastating impact on Somalia.

Power vowed to lead USAID in mobilizing the international community to respond to the drought mitigation efforts in the East African nation.
