USAID to Help Somalia to Handle Humanitarian Crisis Caused by El Nino

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is ready to help Somalia to handle the humanitarian crisis caused by El Nino rains.

El Nino rains left many places around the country submerged in floods.

Roads and other vital infrastructure also lie in ruins as the floods continue devastating much of the country.

A meeting between President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Ambassador Samantha Power agreed on this.

Amb. Power, the USAID chief, assured President Mohamud of the agency’s assistance.

They met on Wednesday in Washington DC where the President has been for much of this week attending the Somalia Security Conference.

They discussed state-building efforts as well as sustainable development in Somalia.
