USAID’s Power Holds Discussions with UNICEF’s Saeed in Somalia

Samantha Power held discussions with Wafaa Saeed, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Country Representative to Somalia.

Power is the Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Her meeting with Saeed took place on Sunday, July 24 when the USAID Administrator arrived in Somalia for an official visit.

Saeed expressed her pleasure at meeting with Power to discuss details of USAID’s recent announcement of $200 million to support UNICEF’s life-saving efforts in Africa.

Specifically, the donation by USAID is to enable UNICEF to reach out to more Somali children.

Currently, millions of Somali children in the country are at risk of starvation, disease, and malnourishment from the ongoing drought.
