Hassan Jama Gurre, the Chairperson of the National Consultation and Rectification Forum, and a veteran member of SNM, has died.
Gurre died in Hargeisa on Saturday. However, the cause of his death remains unclear.
His role in SNM earned him plenty of admirers over the years, which then opened the door for him to hold several posts at both the executive and central committees.
Furthermore, Gurre played a central role in leading the fight for justice and equality in his beloved country.
Often, he never relaxed in calling the leaders and people of Somaliland to embrace genuine democracy while upholding the rule of law around the country.
At one time, he also worked as a Deputy Minister for Defense in the administration of former President Muhammad Haji Ibrahim Egal.
Additionally, he played an important role in rebuilding and reconstructing the country after decades of inter-clan fighting, which caused unimaginable deaths and damaged the economy.
Several top leaders in the country have already sent their messages of condolences to Gurre’s friends, families, and colleagues.
