Vote counting has begun in Somaliland following Wednesday’s historic peaceful presidential and parliamentary elections.
The National Electoral Commission (NEC) indicated that it may take several days before final results from the November 13 polls are available.
NEC officials called on the public to avoid speculation during the counting process, reiterating that preliminary results will only be announced once all votes are fully tallied.
This election marks another step in Somaliland’s ongoing democratic process, with observers noting the calm and orderly conduct of the voting.
