Somaliland’s National Electoral Commission (NEC) has confirmed that the vote counting for the presidential and political party elections is progressing smoothly.
They described the process as being conducted “with good minders” and emphasized that it is proceeding transparently.
The Commission also dismissed widely circulated projection results on social media as “illegitimate and fake outcomes,” urging the public to rely only on official updates for accurate information.
This statement comes as Somaliland continues to uphold its electoral integrity amid significant local and international attention.
Somaliland held presidential and parliamentary polls on the same day – November 13 – for the first time in its history.
Consequently, the vote counting process is likely to take longer compared to the past when it held presidential polls on a separate day from the parliamentary elections.
