The voter registration exercise in Somaliland is to kick off in 176 locations nationwide.
Somaliland’s National Electoral Commission (NEC) announced that the voter registration exercise would kick off on December 28.
The commission encouraged members of the public to register themselves en masse for the elections expected to take place in 2023.
NEC issued a statement on the matter earlier this week.
The General Law on Elections and Voter Registration stipulate that the exercise will always take place before elections.
According to NEC, the upcoming exercise will take place in two phases.
The first phase is to run for 15 days and take place in 176 locations. Thereafter, the second phase will kick off in 23 locations and last a further 15 days.
