Reports from Somaliland indicate that the electioneering period is well and truly on after the voter registration exercise kicked off on the morning of December 14.
Somaliland National Electoral Commission (NEC) launched the exercise in the nation’s capital.
According to the electoral body, the exercise would also commence in areas surrounding the capital city.
Prospective voters reported to their nearest voting centers to register and receive their voting cards.
The exercise is open to new voters. It is also opened to individuals who never received their voting cards despite registering in the past.
Those eligible to vote and already registered but lost their voting cards are free to register afresh in the ongoing exercise.
Somaliland is preparing to hold local and parliamentary elections in early 2021.
