The leader of the opposition Wadajir Party in Somalia has condemned the recent action by Ethiopian forces in the country against peaceful protestors.
On December 27, Ethiopian forces serving in Hiran opened fire at anti-government protestors in the region’s capital.
The Sunday incident saw the Ethiopian forces shoot at individuals who were protesting in Beledweyne.
Later in the day, Abdirahman Abdishakur, the leader of Wadajir Party and its presidential candidate in next year’s elections, condemned the security officers for that act.
He urged the forces to desist from executing acts and commands designed to promote President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo’s personal pre-elections agenda.
Abdishakur faulted the forces for acting outside their mandate.
The Wadajir leader reminded the Ethiopian forces that they are not in Somalia to shoot at or execute innocent protestors.
