The Chairman of Wadani Party, Abdirahman Irro, has called for increased COVID-19 tests in Somaliland.
Irro is the Chairman of one of the largest opposition parties in Somaliland.
He was speaking during the country’s 29th Independence Day celebrations. Somaliland broke away from Somalia in 1991.
Irro says the country faces multitudes of challenges with COVID-19 being the biggest of the lot. He said the disease could cause long-term economic and emotional upheaval.
Consequently, Irro has advised the government to conduct more tests around the country while raising the state of alertness regarding the pandemic to the highest.
Wadani’s leader also asked the government to test people in the provinces more and mobilize all health professionals in the country to help combat the spread of the virulent disease.
