Warring Parties in Las Anod Clashes Urged to Exercise Restraint

The warring sides in the ongoing clashes in Las Anod have been urged to exercise restraint.

Participants at the recent National Consultative Council (NCC) meeting in Dhusamareb appealed to the warring parties to put down their weapons.

Residents of Las Anod have not known peace for much of this year.

Somaliland forces have repeatedly clashed with SSC-Khaatumo militants leading to the loss of countless lives and destruction of property.

In a statement read on Sunday at the end of the 2-day NCC meeting, participants agreed to reaffirm the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of Somalia.

They expressed their deep concern over the escalation of conflicts in Las Anod too.
