A well-known Islamic scholar in Somalia has passed away.
Sheikh Ali Warsame passed away early in the morning of Saturday, May 28.
Warsame is renowned not only for his work as an Islamic scholar but also as one of the founding members of the Al-Ittihad al-Islamiya group.
Al-Ittihad al-Islamiya is an Islamist militant group that was quite prominent in Somalia from 1992 to 2006.
In many circles, it’s considered the predecessor of the Al-Shabaab terrorist group.
