The World Food Programme (WFP) has sent a helicopter to help with the ongoing rescue and humanitarian efforts in Afmadow.
The region is the latest to suffer the devastation wrought by the ongoing heavy rains and subsequent floods in Somalia.
On Friday, WFP announced that one of its copters would arrive in Afmadow later in the day to deliver a rescue boat.
Local residents have been using makeshift rafts to transport their food and other critical supplies away from flood-ridden places.
