WFP Somalia Commends Germany Embassy for the Donation of Humanitarian Aid

World Food Program (WFP) Somalia has extended its gratitude to Germany Embassy in Somalia for donating a planeload of humanitarian aid.

WFP Somalia said the donation would go a long way to providing vulnerable communities and families in the Horn of Africa nation with the lifesaving humanitarian assistance.

Hundreds of thousands of Somalis have been left homeless and made vulnerable due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ongoing heavy rains have also caused floods that destroyed much of the farmland in different parts of the country.

Consequently, many Somalis are unable to fend for themselves.

The recent locust invasion also devastated the land and created a new humanitarian crisis that created food insecurity around the East African country.

WFP Somalia termed the donation from Germany Embassy in Somalia “timely and generous contribution.”

Further, WFP Somalia said the donation would make it easier for the UN Humanitarian Air Service to continue delivering the much-needed humanitarian aid in these COVID-19 times.
