The World Health Organization (WHO) Somalia, in collaboration with the Somaliland Ministry of Health Development, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Somalia, and other health partners, launched the “Big Catch-Up” initiative in Somaliland.
All the above stakeholders worked closely together to launch the initiative on Wednesday.
This initiative aims to address the issue of missed routine vaccinations among children under five, particularly targeting zero-dose children—those who have never received any vaccines.
It is estimated that around 1.5 million children in Somalia fall into this category.
The campaign also includes efforts to vaccinate adults against COVID-19 and Tetanus, reflecting a comprehensive approach to improving immunization coverage and public health in the region.
