WHO Chief Describes Situation in Somalia as “Beyond Heartbreaking”

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), has described the ongoing situation in Somalia as “beyond heartbreaking.”

The WHO chief was speaking in reference to the humanitarian crisis facing the East African nation.

Millions of people in the country are grappling with starvation and lack of access to clean, usable water.

Animals are dying in their droves while crop failure has become the norm.

Dr. Ghebreyesus has now appealed to the international community to join hands together to address the worsening situation in Somalia.

The WHO chief spoke on this issue on March 29.
