The World Health Organization (WHO) remains committed to eradicating pneumonia in Somalia.
Dr. Mamunur Rahman Malik, the WHO Country Representative for Somalia, offered this assurance on Thursday.
“We are committed to ensuring that every Somali child in the country survives and thrives,” Dr. Malik said.
“We also want to make sure that Pneumonia is no longer the biggest killer disease in Somalia,” he added.
To this end, WHO will work closely with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and Gavi (the vaccine alliance) to introduce appropriate vaccines in Somalia.
Specifically, Dr. Malik expects to see the introduction of PVC vaccines in the East African nation.
