WHO Team in Somalia to Improve Health Information Systems

A team from the World Health Organization (WHO) is in Somalia to improve health information management systems (HIMS).

The team from WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO) was in the East African nation on July 2 to inspect HIMS.

They visited Somalia at the request of the country’s Ministry of Health.

The EMRO team stated that timely, reliable, and actionable data is central to creating efficient HIMS.

It intends to contribute toward this, Universal Health Coverage (UHC), and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

They concluded their team in Somalia with a roundtable discussion.

The roundtable discussion was with personnel from Somalia’s health ministry. Other partners sent their representatives to the discussion.
