World leaders have commiserated with traders at a market in Hargeisa who lost their property to a devastating inferno on the night of April 1.
Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Guelleh was among the first to call Somalia’s President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo to express his sympathies.
Others included Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia.
Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom also expressed his devastation through the UK Embassy in Somalia.
They also spoke with Somaliland’s President Muse Bihi Abdi.
The Friday night inferno left more than 2,000 traders without premises to run their businesses.
During the incident, 28 suffered injuries. They received treatment at nearby health facilities.
