Authorities in Mogadishu are concerned over the rapid spread of adenoviral infection.
Speaking to the media, several doctors confirmed that the infection has been spreading wildly over the past few weeks.
Signs and symptoms of the disease include sudden reddening of the eyes.
Most patients also complain of itching and watery discharge of the eyes.
According to medical experts, adenoviral infection is highly contagious. However, they added that the condition resolves itself in 2-4 weeks.
Patients with this condition have been urged to avoid touching their eyes.
Health experts encouraged the residents of Mogadishu to stop shaking hands or sharing towels, pillows, pillowcases, and napkins.
